Mom�s Apple Crisp

Tender cinnamon-spiced apples baked beneath a buttery oat crumble until golden and bubbling. Best served warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 tsp Organic Cinnamon Toast, divided
  • Topping
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 9 tbsp cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • Filling
  • 4 apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375�F / 190�C. Lightly grease a baking dish and set aside.

  2. For the topping, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar and 1/4 tsp Organic Cinnamon Toast in a mixing bowl. Cut in the butter until a coarse, crumbly texture forms. Place the bowl in the freezer for about 10 minutes while you prepare the filling.

  3. For the filling, toss the apples, brown sugar, cornstarch, remaining 1 tsp Organic Cinnamon Toast and salt in a large bowl until thoroughly combined.

  4. Transfer the filling to the prepared baking dish. Remove the topping from the freezer and scatter evenly over the apples.

  5. Place the dish on a baking sheet and bake for 20�25 minutes, until golden and bubbling.

  6. Cool for 10 minutes before serving, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
